7 Uses for Juniper Essential Oil

Juniper essential oil is known for its detoxifying and cleansing properties as it helps alleviate symptoms of fluid retention, acne, achy joints, and more.

Properties: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, carminative, depurative, diuretic, nervine, spasmolytic, tonic

Ways to Use:

Acne:  Juniper essential oil’s astringent properties help alleviate symptoms of acne by cleansing the skin of oil and bacteria that clogs the pores. Blend three drops of juniper oil with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Mix and massage into clean face and neck.  You can also boost your moisturizer by adding 1-2 drops of juniper oil. Use 3-4 times per week.

Arthritis:  Juniper essential oil encourages the removal of uric acid relieving symptoms of arthritis. Mix 5 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and apply to affected areas. An alternative is dilute 4 drops of oil with 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil. Add mixture to warm bath water and soak.

Dermatitis:  Juniper essential oil’s antiseptic properties help to alleviate symptoms of dermatitis by cleansing the skin and reducing inflammation and pain.  This oil is best used in MODERATION when treating skin conditions as you can dry out your skin too much, creating another problem. Blend two drops of juniper oil with 1 teaspoon coconut oil, massage into affected areas.  You may also want to try mixing 4 drops of juniper essential oil with 1 teaspoon grapeseed oil, add to warm bath and soak.

Detox:  With its cleansing and detoxifying properties, juniper oil can be used to gently detox the body of toxins.  Blend 3 drops of juniper oil to 1 teaspoon of grapeseed oil, massage into feet. Repeat once per week for 4 weeks.

Insomnia:  Juniper essential oil has nervine properties which help alleviate symptoms of insomnia. Add 3 drops to your essential oil diffuser a hour before bedtime for a peaceful sleep.

Mental Fatigue:  Juniper essential oil’s nervine properties helps to alleviate symptoms of mental fatigue.  Add 3-4 drops to an essential air diffuser and relax.

Oily Skin:  Just as acne symptoms can be treated with juniper essential oil, the same applies to oily skin. Mix 3 drops with 1 teaspoon coconut oil. Massage onto clean skin, let sit for 10 minutes. Gently remove with a warm face cloth.
