Bergamot Essential Oil is one my favorite essential oils. It has a nice citrus aroma which lifts spirits, reduce anxiety and ease mental angst. It is also useful in alleviating eczema and psoriasis symptoms.
Herbal: Bergamot Essential Oil
Properties: Antibacterial, antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, calmative, carminative, sedative, stomachic, vulnerary
Therapeutic Uses: Infections, fevers, indigestion, cystitis, wounds, acne, herpes sores, depression, stress, tension, insomnia, fear, emotional crisis
Blends Well With: bay, black pepper, chamomile, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, ginger, immortelle, jasmine, lavender, mandarin, neroli, nutmeg, sweet orange, rose absolute, rosemary, rose otto, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme, vetiver, ylang ylang
Ways to Use Bergamot Essential Oil
Acne: Bergamot essential oil’s antiseptic properties makes it ideal for treating acne, Blend 3 drops of bergamot essential oil with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Massage into face and neck as needed.
Bronchitis: Bergamot essential oil can alleviate the symptoms of congestion. Add 3 drops of bergamot oil to an essential oil diffuser and inhale the aroma. An alternative is blending 4 drops of bergamot oil with 1 teaspoon grape seed oil and massage into chest area.
Eczema: Bergamot essential oil’s antiseptic properties make it an ideal choice for treating eczema symptoms. Blend 4 drops of bergamot oil with 1 teaspoon coconut oil and massage into affected areas.
Emotional Balance: Bergamot essential oil has notes of citrus, which is known to uplift spirits and put you in a better mood. Place 5 drops into an essential oil diffuser and let the refreshing aroma flow through your home.
Muscular Aches & Pains: Bergamot essential oil’s analgesic properties help alleviate muscle aches and pains. Mix 6 drops of bergamot oil with 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil, add to warm bath and soak. Alternative treatment is blending 4 drops of bergamot oil with 1 teaspoon grape seed oil and massage into affected areas.
Room Freshener: Bergamot essential oil smells amazing in the bottle an even more so when you add 5 drops to an essential oil diffuser. You can also place 1-2 drops of bergamot oil to a cotton ball and place them out of sight to fill your rooms up with its pleasant aroma.
Tension & Anxiety: If you’re feeling tense, bergamot essential oil is a great oil to use when you want to relax. Simply blend 6 drops of bergamot oil to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil and pour the mixture into a warm bath.
