2014 Caves Velhas, Encostas do Douro, Red Blend

What Are We Drinking: 2014 Caves Velhas, Encostas do Douro, Red Blend

ABV: 13%

Pair With: I paired this with broiled pork chops and steamed vegetables.

Cost: $13.99

Description: This red wine blend is from Duoro, Portugal, an area that is well known for its fortified port wines. On the nose is blood orange and light minerals. On the tongue is red fruit (raspberry, cherry) with a light mineral finish. Rich in tannins. Full bodied. The make up is 35% Touriga-National, 35% Tinta Roriz, 30% Tourica-Franca. This red wine is unique because I normally drink reds in the later parts of the year but this one can be enjoyed anytime.
