What Are We Drinking: Gumdale Shiraz Cabernet

Region: Australia

ABV: 13.5%

Cost: $10

Pair With: meats and cheese plate

Color/Appearance: medium ruby

Aromas: berries and mint

Taste /Description: It’s been a long time since I had a Shiraz so I grabbed this bottle because I noticed it was 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet. On the nose you get the aromas of dark berried and mint. On the palate this dry wine is medium to full bodied with fruit notes of blueberry, currant, a hint of eucalyptus which gives this wine a smooth, velvet like finish. I enjoyed this wine with Shrimp Alfredo pizza. But you could also drink it alone.

  1. There are many wine drinkers who cannot pronounce the names of many fine wines. I am an exception.
