Hey there friends. I know, I know, all I’ve been giving you is wine review content and haven’t written a personal blog post in a while. Hell, I haven’t touched the fantasy novel I’ve been working on since March. Let me explain why this happened.
But before we get into what I’ve been doing for the last few months, let me just ask, how the hell are you all? I am sincere in wanting to know how everyone is holding post ‘Rona. Leave a comment below, my comment section is moderated (because of bots and such) but I approve them after reading.
I appreciate the love, likes and messages from my readers and please know you are not being taken for granted. There are plans in the works to make sure I drop a personal blog post at least twice a month, if not more.
So, what have I been up to? At the moment I am sitting on my lanai listening to my neighbors swimming pool so I’m not sure if I posted about my business venture. Maybe I did, but I’ll talk about it again, anyway.
Back in February, I had an epiphany and decided I wanted to start my shop. The plan was to offer herbal roll-ons, bath teas, foot soaks, oil diffusers and room sprays based on aromatherapy.
I picked this line of products because I know from experience aromatherapy can do wonders for your health and wanted to make products based on my studies and experience. Sounds like this idea alone would be enough, right?
Of course not, I had to watch a YouTube video on candle making, and this idea friends is where my bank account was like “you sure sis?” After assuring the bank account (and my husband) all would be well and I added candles to my product offering
Y’all, the site is up and running and I have so much in the from of advice and experience to share. You can find my online shop here.
When I decide to do something, I give it my all. Candle making has put my nerdy ways to good use. One simply doesn’t melt wax, throw it in a container with a wick and call it good. Oh no, there is a lot to the craft and we should all thank our favorite candle makers.
Candle making is a science, and if you decide to get into this fairly saturated field, be prepared to research and develop your ass off to work out the kinks because I guarantee there will be obstacles.
For some, it takes many months of work. For nerds like myself, we can nail the first candle on the first try but again, research is your friend.
Once you develop your products, you’re going to want a site to host it on. Some choose sites like Etsy and Shopify. I cut out the middle-man and hosted my site. This task alone took almost a month to complete.
While tech literate, I am not so good at coding so between that and working full time, being mom, wife and budding entrepreneur, this took longer than expected but I am proud of every moment I spent on it.
I will tell you all more about my business in the next post because this post is past 500 words. Don’t worry just because you don’t see the second post here, doesn’t mean I am not writing it right now.
Thank you so much, readers.
Till next time. 🙂
